macromedia flash flashcom : FCS MX 1.5 on CentOS works Sort of...

Hi,

I installed FCS 1.5 r138 on CentOS 3.6. App Inspector and server admin are
running and apps register when launched. The only samples that I can
successfully run are shared text and shared ball. None of the chat or video
apps work. They work fine with an FCS windows installation that I have set up
but when I customize for the linux server the simple connect component does not
appear to do anything. Again the app inspector sees my chat application but
otherwise my app just sits ther doing nothing. After searching around the
net, forums and macromedia the only thing I suspect(being new to linux) is that
the users and groups and permissions of my flash install folder need to be
tweaked. On installation of FCS 1.5 I chose one of my user names 'civideo',
for example and group = 'civideo'. The FCS files are in /opt/macromedia/fcs/
and many of the files/folders in there are owned by user 'civideo' with group
'civideo' like /applications and /conf and /scriptlib. First does anyone think
the problem has anything to do with users/groups/permissions? If not any other
suggestions?

Thanks, Brian

Problem Solved. I went back to basics, created user and group fcs(as
recommended in the installation tips). Then I reinstalled fcs using fcs/fcs as
the user and group and everything appears to be working just fine.
