Hello everybody,

I'm newby in Flash Media Server, so understand mi ignorance, please.

I need to do an aplication with two parts:

1. Live video emision from a webcam
2. Receiver of the live video.

I've been looking FMS documentation, and i don't understand very well how to
do it. My idea is create a client side aplication for capturing video with
the webcam and send it to FMS. And make another client side app wich
connects to FMS for receiving the video.

But i don't know how t begin. Can you tell me where can i find a tutorial or
example of something similar??

Thanks.

sataca

Hello sataca,

1.after installing fms right, you should consider about to download the fms2
examples from this location :
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/fms2_sample_apps.zip and to
install them.

2. Of course ( I think this is usually not to mention ) you should have Flash
MX 2004 Pro or Flash 8 installed. This is the authoring software that enables
you to write the application you want to have. If not done yet, go to the
Macromedia Site and download a 30 day trial.

3. If you have Flash installed download the FMS2 components here :
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/components.html
After installing them, they are available in Flash in the component panel.
Now you can play with the samples located in the fms2/applications directory.

4. If you want to know how a simple Videoconferencing App. is build up from
scratch look at this tutorial
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/broadcast_receiver.html

I hope this helps to persuade the startup for you a bit....;)

Thanks

i've tried the tutorial of macromedia and it seems to be almost what i need.

The only thing i need, if it's possible, is to know the bandwitdh of the
user. In the demo, there's a combo box where the user selects his bandwith.
Is possible to detect it???

Thanks

sataca

Hello sataca,

I'm happy that you found a fitting solution :)
Regarding to your question about bandwith detection I would say a good
ressource is here :
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/flvideo_bandwidth.html
I think it could work for livecam sessions, too.
