macromedia flash flashcom : FCS Install Options

I currently have a copy of flash com and would like to install it. I notice
that I have to have root access to a server in order to use flashcom. This
rules out me using it on my standard web hosting service, as they won't allow
root access. Is it possible to use a server, such as apache, and install that
on my local computer, then install FCS onto that? The big question, if that
is possible, is can I server up files to different domains, such as a clients
domain? would this work? what would be the best solution for my situtation to
get access to FCS and get it up and running. How have you gone about getting
access to flash com without going to a different hosting service.

You don't need apache to be able to run FCS. It installs as a service in either
windows or Linux. So in answer to your question you will be able to install it
on your local computer. You could then create swf players hosted on your
webspace which in turn point to your flashcom machine.

However this assumes that relevant ports are not restricted either by your
ISPs or any firewall etc.
