I have developed several applications with flashcom, and so I have some
knowledge about it, but I cannot imagine any possibility to share desktop by
using flashcom (I don't mean sharing desktop such as microsoft terminal service
does, but at least to show to someone connected with me what I am doing on my
desktop, for example to show how to use some application in an e-learning
scenario). I have seen macromedia breeze can do it.

Is it possible by Flashcom?
Thanks fon any kind reply
bye

macromedia hasn't opened up this functionality to flashComm so you have to make
your own. If I were to make a desktop sharing application this is what I
would do. You are going to need and external thing that takes a snap shots of
the page at the begining. before you take it hide the mouse, and upload the
image then trace the mouse position. Every time the mouse it clicked a new
screen shot will be uploaded. If you are on a mac you can do the external
screen image part with apple script and I am sure there is an eazy way to do
this on a pc as well. You could also take an image every few seconds but this
is way more bandwidth. Desktops images are large in my mind it is much beter to
be big, clean and understandable then smooth and unreadable. This isn't a
greatest way to do things but it will work because it looks like macromedia
doesn't want to add this functionality. hope this helps

Thanks talltyler, I have no idea about how to create an app on pc to take
automatically screen shots but surely there is a way, may be with VB or
somethihg like this. I don't know these languages, so I think I will have to
ask someone to make the dirt job for me.

Thank you for your reply

Hi!
You should look at Camtasia, a screen capture software. Its codecs
allows user to grab a vid of the screen. It's codec is accessible from
the flash player as a cam. I did some trials, worked ok so far.
There is a tutorial on their website to do such a thing with FlashCom.
