macromedia flash flashcom : Installation problems on Linux.. RH9

OK, so I've downloaded the latest FCOM Server.. I've installed it, and
installed the latest updater.

Running ./fcserver seems to work fine, in that I can now telnet myserver 1935
and it's comes back to me with

Trying XXX.XXX.XXX...
Connected to myserver.
Escape character is '^]'.

without running fcserver I just get :

telnet: connect to address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host

So fcserver is running and accepting connections on that port... (and fcadmin
does the same on port 1111)

The problem is.. I can't get any of the samples to work..

How can I better test the connection/server via a browser/script and work out
why it's not working ?

Hello JVCJVC,

If you want to run de samples on the same machine that the FCS is
running, you will need webserver do publish the sample files. You have a
webserver configurated properly to publish the path of the samples?

Hello JVCJVC,

Try to install the FCS Components in your Flash Environment. It must add
a panel to conect in the FCS. Try to use this panel to access the server
remotely, using your administrator account and password. If it not
connect, probably your installation have failed.

Try this and report me.

Hi NGU,

Thanks for taking time to reply, yes, the webserver is serving the sample HTML
files, but none of them work.

For example, the simplest tutorial "Hello Server".. The page loads fine, I
enter my name, hit Connect and nothing happens.

Is there anyway to debug what the fcserver process is doing (if anything) ?

It seems the Flash stuff is loading fine in my browser, but it's just not
connecting to the server, despite me being able to telnet to the server. I've
checked my firewall etc. with the "Flash Communication Server port connectivity
survey " and get "success" for everything..

Going to Server Tools in html/admin/admin.html provides me with a login to the
Flash Comms Server.

If I enter the host / login / password it does nothing for a good 30 seconds,
then says "Connection closed."

If I try this without fcadmin running, it comes back with "Failed to connect
to server" immediately.

Hmmm.. I'm all out of ideas :-(

Man, I'm out of ideas too. I recomend you to reinstall the server and
keep an eye in the installation process to see if an error occurs.

Let me know if you have some progress.

Have you tried looking at the logs FCS is creating.

See here for more details.
