Andy -

These topics are covered in different documents or tutorials in the FlashCom
DevCenter. Have you tried those?

yeah, and it also says that an understanding of flash network connections and
actionscript etc.

ergo, we need to get someone in to do it. Our business has lost a lot of
money/clients due to
this problem and no one seems to be able to sort it for us.

I didn't put http://www.eochat.com in my portfolio since the site took a
slightly naughty turn after it launched. I started out as a video chat using
Flash Communication Server but quickly took a turn towards a voyeur site. The
site uses almost all the features of Flash Comm I removed the audio because
people couldn't figure out not to put their speakers next to their microphone
so it was just a bunch of feedback you can't train mass people how to use the
internet or how feedback works so we removed that feature. The site manages
users accounts using SQL server, processes payments form credit cards via
secure socked connections and has an admin feature to manage users and the
chat. You have to register for a free account to see the actuall flash chat
portion of the site the rest is database driven html. If you want a PLATINUM
account to see how private user to user messaging and other features work let
me know. The free account only sees a single fram from the video stream every
15 seconds. The paid acocunts get the full straming video and zoom features.

Here are somethings free of charge.

In order for you to get flashcom to work through firewalls you need to
make sure it is on it's own server (no other servers on the box), and
then bind it to port 80. That is a sure fire for firewalls and you
won't have to tunnel.

As far as audio breakup and lipsync, that can partially be due to the
clients bandwidth, as well as any dropping along the route (how many
hops the client has before they hit your server). That all is assuming
you have a big enough pipe on your end.
