No backend scripting is necessary to learn flashcom. However, you will need to
learn SSAS(Server-Side ActionScript) which is based on AS 1.0 due to flashcom's
architecture of AS 1.0. It is remarkably easy and you will be up and running
in no time. I recommend visiting the

Also, Flashcom has the ability to exchange data through flash remoting server
side to connect to external datasources through SSAS.

hi,
i'm a flash developer.i create applications purely using A.S2 and xml to
connect with java,sql etc.,now i wanted to enter the next stage.i'm very much
intrested in learning flash comm but i've no knowledge in backend
scripting.well my question is whether backend scripting knowledge is necessary
to learn flashcomm? or we can just manage with A.S2 knowledge?please help me.
