Hello,

Please look at
http://www.schoolswithoutlimits.org/session_window_tutor.jpg
http://www.schoolswithoutlimits.org/session_window_student.jpg

The screen shots above are an example of what we would like to have developed
as a Flash Comm application.

We are looking for a developer to create an application to allow tutors to
have online tutoring sessions with students. This web conferencing application
will be developed using Flash Communication Server.

We still need to solidify some details, but can you give us an estimate on
what it would cost for you to develop a Flash Comm application like the screen
shots I?ve shown at the URLs above, which will include the following features:

- Our target architecture is Redhat Linux, MySQL, PHP, although may be open to
others if it makes the development less expensive.

- We want the application to email the students and tutor a link they can
click on that will send them to a unique private conference room for their
session.

- Include chat, audio and whiteboard (video is optional)

- Save the chat session text

- Save the whiteboard page

- Save your personal notes about session (to server database)

- Tutor start time and duration are saved to the server database.

- Tutor can control student permissions to use chat, audio, and whiteboard

- Tutor can select from a drop down box above the student?s video to view a
particular student in the conference.

- Students can use the ?Raise Hand? button to ask for permission to use chat
and audio.

- Students can use the ?Ask for marker? button to ask for permission to use
the whiteboard.

- When the student makes a permission request, the Tutor gets a pop up
message, where they can choose to give the student permission.

- ?End Session? button saves the end time and terminates the session

- Tutor can click on rewards buttons (tokens, stars, etc) to save reward
information to the database

- Tutor can import images and PowerPoint files into the whiteboard

- Only tutor can create and navigate to additional whiteboard slides

- Include simple free or open source games like tic tac toe, etc.

Please respond to maroa.gikuuri@schoolswithoutlimits.org with your cost in US
dollars and URLs to a few examples of similar projects you have done

Thank you,

maroa.gikuuri@schoolswithoutlimits.org

Some developers will not take this kind of posting seriously. Maybe post an
outline of your budget and my feeling is that if it's below a 5 figure sum you
may have trouble finding a person to build this. It's a complex app. Your spec
resembles a mini-Breeze - but with some games thrown in!
'Include games'... I mean come on, what kind of a brief is that? One game, two
games, 50 games? Why have games inside an elearning app anyway?

Sorry, not wanting to discourage you, just trying to steer you a bit. This is
no trivial task, a good powerpoint to swf solution alone would be quite pricey.

Thanks for your feedback. I know some of the project requirements are a little
vague, but I hoped it would spur questions and open the lines of communication.
We are not Flash Comm experts and we are looking for an expert that can guide
us in the right direction if needed.

In regards to the Powerpoint importing, I know of a few third party tools that
can be integrated for a couple hundred dollars or less.

Just to note, this person is looking more for instructions on how exactly to
build this project than to have somebody build it. If you try applying, expect
to be asked for a 2 to 3 page report of how exactly you plan on building this
application going into so much detail that they expect to see variable names in
it.

That is the true meaning of "guide us in the right direction".

We are in fact looking for a developer. In addition, we are looking for a
simple 2 or 3 page proposal/technical approach for this application, which
includes cost. If anyone would like to get more information on our
organization, please visit www.schoolswithoutlimits.org

Thank you

a custom one, even.

maybe you can use some modules from other apps (if previously developed
similar content) but they're going to need customizing anyhow, so you end up
with a nice fat bill to pay.

My company also has the requirement AND BUDGET for the development of a limited
feature, but slick Web presentation, product, possibly with limited text chat
and video functionality. We are a major telephone conference call provider
seeking to expand into the "Breeze Extra-Lite" market. You can check out our
services at www.GlobalConference.com and www.FreeConference.com. Our
embarrassing corporate Web site is at www.Telephony.com. This could be an
employment opportunity or project. Our location: Los Angeles, CA. Thanks!
