Ok, lets say I've setup an application "app1" on the server
"rtmp://fcs.server.com"

the applicastion resides at rtmp://fsc.server.com/app1

Let's say there are connections made to multiple separate instances:

rtmp://fcs.server.com/app1/inst1
rtmp://fcs.server.com/app1/inst2
etc.

Is there a way to create a flash app that pulls a list of all the instances
for app1?

I don't know about that but you can see what apps and instances are being used in the Application Inspector.

You can use the admin API to access many of the FCS admin features, including
retreiving a list of active application instances, without the app inspector.
It's way too much to cover on a forum, but O'Reilly's "Programming Flash
Communication Server" covers it in a good amount of detail.
