I have a PC feeding a video stream to a server, and periodically it drops out
for whatever reasons. I want to restart the PC and reestablish the video
stream. I want the new stream to be a continuation of the one in progress when
the dropout occurred, I want the new video appended to the previous file.

Is that possible?.

Sure. Just use "append" instead of "record" in your publish arguments

my_ns.publish("streamName", "append");
