macromedia flash flashcom : RTMPS - Works from windows, but not from OS X?

I'm developing a client-server application that requires all data to be
transmitted securly. I was able to get rtmps working perfectly when a windows
user is connecting using a hardware SSL accelerator with an equifax cert. I use
rtmps to port 443, which the accelerator then forwards to port 80 on the FMS
servers as plain old rtmpt traffic.

The problem I'm having is that for some unknown reason, the exact code that
works from a windows machine, won't work from a Mac. The onStats returns a very
generic failed response whenever I try to open an rtmps connection. I know the
client-side rtmps uses the browser's SSL support to connect, so I tried all the
major Mac browsers: Safari, Firefox, & Netscape, but it won't work in any of
them.

Has anyone been successfull in establishing an rtmps connection from a mac to
FMS2 (reguardless of what you use to decrypt the SSL)?

Have you found any fix for this problem?

I am working on an application that will require RTMPS, but I have not yet
gotten to the stage of using it (either directly with FMS2 or with a hardware
accelerator).

Have you used RTMPS with a live audio/video streaming application? If so, what
is your experience with its effects on latency of the live stream? What model
of hardware accelerator are you using?
