:brokenheart; I'm just now learning to use FMS. It's great and all but, one fine day it quit working in my test environment. Now I had been trying, most unsuccessfully to test live streaming on the local network. I thought perhaps it had something to do with my computer's firewall. So I turned off the local area firewall. Things seemed to be okay, then later on that day rebooted my router to allow port 1935 to pass through. I thought by doing that, I would be able to view live video streams from other computers in my network. I'm running FMS2 on Windows XP Home and I'm using Apache server as an http server, and was opening up the .swf files from the Apache server document root via Firefox, but while on my machine the apps connected to FMS2, on other machines they wouldn't connect when I started them via Apache server...okay so a little toubleshooting here and a little troubleshooting there, great everythings gonna work out fine. Then disaster struck. After I rebooted the router FMS stopped working. Like I mean when I go into FMS console, and click on the connections tab in manage servers I get an "Error requesting stats from the server Server 1" message. Strangely, when I click on connections after I've clicked ono _defaultVhost_ or whatever that is under the main "Server 1" thingy I don't get a like error message. When I try to restart the Server 1, the thing restarts for about a maximum of 12 seconds then stops (when I look at the "Details" tab. After I go to start FMS in the Start Menu and check in Windows task manager FMSCore and FMSAdmin and FMSEdge are running, but that's all. I think FMSMaster used to run? Anyway, I've uninstalled and reinstalled about a half-a-dozen times, but still no good... I think I need a drink, or a smoke? How 'bout a nice orange juice? I've discovered something strange in my Flash Media Server\logs\master.00.log, some odd message that says ,"FMS has detected system time is going backwards; shutting down server." Hmm... it could be a clue.
:D Okay, to whoever reads this and is interested...I found the problem here. I had accidentally changed my calendar to one month ahead of it's actual time. When I found this mistake the other day, I changed it back to February. This was such a small change that I didn't even think about it. Well, FMS did...so whatever happened my "SYSTEM TIME" thing was going backwards. I don't know why, Windows XP ought to have it together enough to be able to handle a change like that without throwing a monkey wrench in it. So I had to put the calendar back to March to fix it. Anyway, it's working now. On to the next problem.
