macromedia flash flashcom : newbie question,,,

I converted an AVI to FLV in the encoder. The resulsting file only opens a blank flash 8 player. I can't even get it to play within the flash app.

What am I doing wrong????

You need to create a SWF that points to your FLV (either using the
MediaPlayback component or custom AS). The connection will need an URL with
the rtmp:// protocol.

That is the depth of my understanding. My SWFs can connect to the FMS (I see
this in the FMS Administration panel) but the videos still don't stream. Have
been scratching head for quite some time now. Anyone can help?
