I have been deverloping with FCS up until now . I would like to start trying
some Flex 2 and FMS development. My question is can they exist together on a
development box and if not can anyone suggest a developement setup.... also can
FMS support applications that have been developed with FCS? My current
development setup is Flashcom and Flash8 on a XP box and Flashcom on a sever
2003 box. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Although the docs tell you not to run both on the same server, but I don't see why you couldn't if the each had their own IP address.

Jay encouraged me to do just that and it worked out just fine.

One item is FMS 2.0.1 claimed uninstalling FCS. I could not seem to find a
workaround to the installer prompting that message so I backedup up FCS. But
I am not sure what it did as the folders are still there and the usual links
I had now go to FMS.

I have a develpoment server running XP, and I have both FMS and FCS running
on it (just not at the same time) with no problems. For development
purposes, I think XP is a perfectly acceptable solution.

Thanks Jay,

Another Question I have for you is, can FMS run on a XP box? I tryed to
install the demo of FMS 2.01 on a XP Box that was running FCS now both version
seem to run if the other is stopped but applications do not connect. SInce both
my XP box and the sever 2003 box are both for development I do not need them to
run at the same time, what OS do you suggest using?

Thanks again for your help

Follow-up

Well I just got bit on the butt for not verifying this one (Was FCS truely
deleted).

I did not turn off my Win XP until today some 34 days after the FMS install
leading me to be totally confused for 1 hour when I realized FCS was still
running and restarted on boot-up.

I was testing apps from another machine on the network and they reported no
such app in the nc.onStatus but I could see and start them in the Management
Console. Turned out on inspecting the Windows Services that FCS was still
kicking and thus as I was warned FCS was in the way.

I gotta reboot more often. :-)
