macromedia flash flashcom: HI All
We have a potential client who is looking at putting a number of courses
available on-line (from traditional face to face teaching)
THe online version would be a series of videos (flv) along with corresponding
slides (jpgs) at cue points
The flvs are encoded using on2vp2 codec @256k
In order that say 10 web users can access the content at the same time, and
with the same bandwidth of delivery (i.e 256k), what do i need (i.e my internet
service provider or potentially the client themselves) to support this??

a) 256k * 10 = 2.56Mb bandwidth (pipe)??
b) flash media server??
c) dedicated server???

Any suggestions or help would be welcomed in solving this

for the On demand Video (one to many) Here is the Formula

Bws: bandwidth of the server that u need for ur application

N = Number of users
S = Stream encoded Constant kbps

Bws = N*S

The Formula of the Many to Many video
BWS=(P*N)*S
P= Number of the Puplisher (who is using a camera )
N= Number of Subscriper [ all the the users who have cam or havn't]
S == Stream encoded Constant kbps

if u see its the same formula but in case 1 the puplisher always = 1 thats why
we didnt put it in the formula for the one to many

Before i go to calculate your Data Transfer use this formula

Datatransfer with bits= N*S*Month with seconds
month with seconds = 60*60*12*30

thats how to have an application strategy
