macromedia flash flashcom: I'm curious to know if anyone has deployed Flash Media Server on a Ubuntu
server (Server Edition 7.04). I know the supported linux platform is for the
Red Hat flavor, but I'm curious to know if it will work on Ubuntu too. Please
advise.

The patch referenced above didn't work for me with several attempts. Perhaps
the code within the patch is no longer functions correctly with the FMS
installation package? Any other advice or suggestions?

you can test those.

apt-get install libnspr4 libstdc++5 libstdc++5-3.3-dev
tar xfz FlashMediaServer2.tar.gz
cd FMS*
wget http://www.bluetwanger.de/~mbertheau/fms.patch
patch -p1 < fms.patch
sudo ./installFMS

Got it installed...thanks for your help. It turned out to be a simple
permissions problem for the untarred installation folder.

Any suggestions for post-installation steps after a successful install on
Ubuntu? The default FMS2 installation seems to work fine for my requirements,
at least for now.

I've installed and used the patch listed but as of yet been unable to connect to the server use the fms2_console. I can ping the ip and port but the console says it cannot connect.

After getting the patch successfully applied and running the installation, all
based on the information above, I was able to use the FMS console just fine by
using the default setup. I'm not sure what other information to offer. If I
think of something, I'll share. I'm able to browse the FMS console file (BTW -
I moved this into the root of my apache folder structure) by browsing via local
network IP or public IP.
