macromedia flash sitedesign : Flash and XML - HELP!!!!

I am trying to create a Flash site with a menu throughout which uses an xml back-end. The problem is I'm new to Flash and XML and I'm trying to understand the basics.
I would like to try and keep the website within one swf file but when trying to link to another frame from the xml file I can only seem to link to htm files. I would like to avoid this as the website can become quite large if I have to put each swf file onto a different htm page.
Is there any code that I can put into the xml file so that it links to a different frame or scene rather than an individual htm page?

Many thanks if anyone can help

Go to http://www.timberfish.com/tutorials/xmlBasic/ for a decent intro
tutorial on importing xml data into Flash.
