My first attempt at MX and I am having all sorts of trouble getting the getURL to my button instances. I have selected the button, opened actions, clicked actions, then browser/networks and then getURL. I get an error that says the on (release) can only be attached to a button. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes. You do not have the button instance selected when you add the action,
or the button is not a button symbol. It must be a symbol of type button,
not a movie clip or graphic symbol. Select the instance and look at the
upper left corner of your Property Inspector to determine what kind of
instance it is.

click the item that you want to be the hyperlink. check, in 'properties', and make sure that it is an actual button. then what you are doing should work. otherwise, simply type in the link in the propeties area next to the chain link-looking thing (hyperlink address area). Does that make any sense?

Got it. The real problem was that I needed to find the button instance in the movie clip and add the on (release) there, instead of trying to add it to the button symbol. I feel like DUH!! Thanks for your help.
