Hello, my name is Raj. I am a undergraduate computer science student. I am proficient in C, C++, COBOL (eek), and PHP. I just purchased Macromedia Studio MX 2004 with FlashMX Pro, and I want to learn how to build completely flash-based sites, much like www.2advanced.com. I understand both structural based and object oriented concepts. I have used Dreamweaver extensively both in the past and currently to manage and design web sites, so I am familiar with the interface. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i guess all that programming stuff will help you with actionscript, but the fact is that flash is an illustration program with the ability to attach scripts to objects, etc.
if you have a base on html design, i assume you have some skill and knowledge to create navigational settings that produce quality content.
flash is a powerful tool that allows you to generate html looking sites with animated effects on everything and anything you want (for basic explanation).

i would start small, make mistakes, and learn to setup the animations and artwork within timelines (rather than individual pages).

flashkit.com is great, as well as go to amazon and order a basic flash starter book and go from there. it will take a few months.

Yes, I have designed database driven web sites, using MySQL (phpMyAdmin is great!), PHP, and CSS. In particular, I have used CSS in developing table-less sites, and CSS positioning to create desired effects, while having dynamic content load in certain parts of the page. So I have some Web page layout theory behind me :) Unfortunately none of those sites are accessible via the Internet. :(

My concept of Flash at this point is that it's basically an inteligent slide show that allows you to jump to different parts of the slide show based on user interaction. If that is the case, I would assume that my concept is a really watered down version of the real deal.
