macromedia flash sitedesign: Hello, I am new here, and I have two questions:

[bullet]1. How do I make a line grow, as in start from a dot and make it
elongate throughout a group of frames. Do I use motion tween? If so, how
exactly? I understand the basics of motion tween, but since I just learned how
to use it yesterday, I don't know all of its functions.[/bullet]

Create the line at the length you want it to end up. Select it and hit F8 to
make it into a 'graphic' symbol. Select the frame you want the tween to end on
and hit F6 to create a keyframe there. Return to the first frame and select
your line-graphic-symbol and then use your transform tool to squeeze the symbol
down so it appears as a dot...then right-click somewhere between your two
keyframes and 'add motion tween'...your line should now start as a dot and
stretch out to make the line...

as far as buttons, grab the actions panel (window) and select your button and
add a getUrl(http://www.google.com); action.

You forgot to define the hit states for the text buttons. It requires the
mouse to be over the letter parts unless you define the hit state. I see
that the other pages don't have that problem so you just need to fix the
main page buttons. (make a rectangle in the hit frame of the button)
I like your site design very much but you should not complement your own
work.

You did great. It looks real good. I like the line drawing effect.

To fix your buttons, just put a keyframe under the HIT frame for the button
and draw a borderless (no stroke) rectangle the size of the mouse hit area.
This rectangle will be invisible, and it defines where the mouse can click
the button. It can be any shape or size.

BTW, that's how you make invisible buttons.. put nothing in the UP/OVER/DOWN
frames and put any shape in the hit frame. It is then an invisible button.
Very useful for making buttons over bitmaps etc. (It looks like a
transparent blue in the Flash editor and is invisible when running)

I agree, but it loops. You need to put a stop action in there so it doesn't
loop.

Ah, I did not know that there was a way to make it so you didn't have to hover
over the letters. The rest of the site is only html so that is why the other
stuff works fine. I never complimented my own work, I'm just happy that I
created a working flash document. I never thought I'd have the patience to
learn, but it is quite fun.
