Dear all,

I am building my second flash site and have run into a problem. The site is
based on many small images that tween over each other. The problem i am having
is that the preloader seems to work, although most of the images are below
500K, but when the movie plays on an older computer, P2 350, it can't cope with
all of the images tweening. At certain points the processor works at 100%. I am
assuming this is because they are not preloading propably or because the
processor can't cope with the maths for moving the images. Is there any way
round this.

Flash is notoriously bad at shifting bitmaps around a screen. You say these
images are small, but 500k for a single image is HUGE. What dimensions are
your images? Are you scaling them in Flash, or before you import them?

[NOTE: it will help you to get answers on these forums if you use a more
descriptive title than 'Please help!!!!!!'. Give some indication of the type
of problem you are having in the subject and people will be more likely to
check it out. Also helps people with the same problem to search the archives
and find their answers].

Sorry, the image sizes are about 50 - 300B each not 500K as i first said (they
are appearing below the red line in the bandwidth profiler which is set to 56K
connection speed). I am importing the images and then scaling them in Flash.
Some of the images are staying the same size and just moving across a mask. The
mask size is 440x210 pixels so all the images are smaller than that.

It may be easier if you have a look if that is OK?

It is still work in progress, but it is the overall impression I want to
acheive. It works fine on my P4 3.0, but is dead slow on a P2 350

If there are some images that are only going to be displayed small, but you
are loading them as large images, you should scale them in an image app and
import them at the size they will be used at.

Roughly how many images do you have onscreen at one time, and what kind of
pixel dimensions are they?
