macromedia flash sitedesign : does this take too long to load?

I think I set up my new site wrong in Flash Pro. I used the screen-type of
flash document to create the site. It came out to 20 Mbs as a .fla file. The
..swf is 3.4 Mbs. I know I need to create the loading image up front, but I am
just trying to finish this so I can move on to the 8 other projects I have to
get done before the end of the year.

Any suggestions you may have is greatly appreciated. I am also going to add
sound soon.

for a site like this - 3.4MB is absurd. for any site 3.4MB is way overboard - and the style of your
site could have easily been made with static HTML and some animated GIFs and been under 100k. Not to
flame your site but this is not a good use of flash.

I should add - even if you made it inn flash - it could have still been developed under 100k - just
not sure why the playback frame rate looks around 6fps - very choppy - and all those spinning
buttons just make the text very hard to read and visually annoying - kinda like staring at christmas
trees with blinking lights.
I would tone it down a bit on the constant animation. I would re-build it - HTML prefereably but if
it has to be flash then avoid screens and just make movie clips. compress the bitmaps and make the
buttons animation happen on rollOver only.

hey - glad you took that the right way - i believe in being honest because it can make a site better
- i love swift 3D so if you need any advise let me know.
also - feel free to ask in the general forum specific questions about getting animations to work
properly - not sure what you mean by that - so glas to help if possible.

thanks for your replies. Mudbubble, thank you for your honesty. I am going to
redo the site kinda with the same material, just as a movie as you suggested.
I will have to work on the mouseovers. I had a hell of a time getting
animations to work properly. I used a 3D software to do all the animations
(Swift3D). You can bet I will be looking throughout these forums for tips on
what I did wrong.

Thanks again.
