Looking for Feedback - Long Jump Game

Looking for Feedback - Long Jump Game Tweek

macromedia flash sitedesign:
I am working on a long jump game in Flash, trying to emulate the old 80's
arcade Track and Field game. Please try it out and let me know your feedback
here.

The graphics are all temporary, just there as a sort of proof of concept to
see that I can change the states of the sprite, etc..

I'm trying to get it calibrated so that breaking 9 metres is very
challenging but possible. The problem is it plays back differently depending
on CPU speed. It's calibrated perfectly on my main testing computer. I'd be
interested to hear if anyone can break 10 metres easily, etc...

TIA

It's still all temp graphics and stuff, just trying to get it to play right.

Thanks,

Wasn't easy, but I got 10.2 once I got good at pressing keys fast.
Game is looking good!
Might be nice to get a bar showing how fast you are going, maybe something
clearer on how far from the line too. Should be great with improved graphics
and sounds.

Try this updated version, with tighter calibration (you should not be able
to break 10M unless your computer is very slow or you "cheat"), proper fault
detection, dynamic shadow, speed bar, etc..

About the controls, it's designed to be played just like the old Track and
Field arcade game. This means you use one hand on each arrow key and pop one
hand to the up arrow to jump. This is how it was in the arcade... 2 outside
buttons for running and one in the middle and slightly above for jumping.
People keep asking me to make the jump button be space bar because they want
to run with the right hand and jump with the left. I'm not doing it, it's
not part of my vision for the game. I want it to be physical... right hand =
right foot, left hand = left foot. Also when you code space bar to be
slapped on, people inevitably hit "alt" or the Windows/Apple key, and that
causes huge problems.

I'd love to hear your feedback!
