macromedia flash sitedesign:
Hello all

I have been creating templates for a flash intranet to get used to the
environment and how it works and keep coming across the same problem everytime.
The text on my site is always blurry. Actually thats a lie, the first page on
some are fine and then when i click on a button to go to the next page all the
text changes to blurry. But on others the text is always blurry. why is that?
if anyone knows what im doing wrong i would really appreciate the
enlightenment. i'm going mad trying to figure it out and nothing works. Please
help!
thanks for your time

Are you using pixel fonts by chance? Also what size are the blurry fonts, and do yo uhave a link for example? Thanks

Hi
thanks for replying. Yeah im using a pixel font and its at size 8. I have
created links but i have done then by creating a button. I have drawn a box and
put the text in the box so that its easier to click on the link. then grouped
them and coverted them into a button. but its not only my links that change its
also normal text.

any ideas?
thanks for your help

1 Make sure the pixel fonts are on a whole number (x, and y). Like 43x and 58y
as opposed to 43.4x and 58.9y. You might want to make sure that each movie the
pixel fonts are in is also on whole numbers. 2 having the text aligned left
or right -not centered 3 making sure the text field is at 100%, not resized
(and possibly the movies it resides in also- but not sure about that...) Try
that and see if it clears up....

Hi
thanks for getting back to me. about changing the x,y numbers to whole
numbers, do you mean in the properties panel at the bottom of the page on the
left hand side? i have changed a few however some just do not change. ive been
taking away the remainder and as soon as i click away it brings it back. but
some others were successful. am i doing this right?

thanks again

If you are using a version of Flash before 2004 that might be a Flash problem.
I used to have the same thing happen with MX and before. The best way I found
was making the change to the number and then 'tabbing' out of the box.
Sometimes I would have to do this multiple times, and sometimes none. That
could be the issue... But yeah, the Properties box will have your x, y
settings for objects or you can go to the Info pallette and change x, y there.

Hi,
I am getting a blank page at your link. Is it possible to see the source file (fla)?

Hi yeah sorry i cant seem to get it to work online now. dont know whats up with
it. it shows up on my side but i cant seem to change it. if i change the file
and re upload it, it doesnt change to the new version. but it works on my
machine. ive also tried uploading the swf and fla file but it doesnt make a
difference. sorry about this, as you can tell im realy new to flash.
im not sure how to show you the file. any hints you can give would be good.

Hi,

Two things I noticed:
1. There were a lot of text instances that were not aligned on the whole
number. For instance the X, Y coordinates were 40.5, 20.2 (incorrect)
instead of 41, 20 (correct) for example. Both x, and y need to not have
fractions for the pixel fonts.

2. There is probably something corrupt with your original file. What I did was
copy frames from your original file and paste them into a new document. Then
the text clears up! Don't know why the file may be having problems, but if you
use the one I am sending you, hopefully you won't have any more problems.

Hope this helps!
