There is the vertical alignment with Middle, Top, Bot etc, then there
is the side-to-side centering. If you mean centering side-to-side, in
Dreamweaver, click once on the flash movie, then press your left arrow
key once to move off of the Flash just to the left of it. Then click
on the Align Center button. It looks like this on the button...

If you look at the source code afterwards it will add two lines..

<div align="center">
(your flash embed stuff goes here)
</div>

ive asked this question and im still having a problem getting it to take... my
flash movie keeps showing up in the top left corner of may page although ive
gone in within dreamweaver and highlighted it and chosen alignment and chosen
middle or even absolute middle...any thoughts- or do i need to just place on a
layer or table and manually move it around till it is centered... ive checked
it on a computer at 800 / 600 and my laptop of course at 1400 / 800... any
idea's...
thanks

No need to feel like an idiot. For all of us, there is the small
amount of stuff we already know and a heck of a lot more stuff that we
don't know yet.
