macromedia flash sitedesign: Does anyone know how to make large swf files download faster than 10 seconds.
Some examples include adobe.com's homepage. Is there some progressive download
script that is being implemented? please help

swf streams by its nature... If your files come down slowly, it's likely a
function of your host more than anything.

A good way how to decreese file sizes is to delete the stuff in your library
that you will not be using as when you export a .swf file Flash exports the
library also. To do so go where your library is, on the top right corner you
will find a small button, click it to display a menu, click select un-used
items and delete the un- used Items. I only reccomend doing this when you have
compleated your site because you might have stuff in your library that you
would need to use later on.

Depends on your server and the bandwidth that the viewer has with their
connection.

Split into scenes to make the .swf s smaller.

Thanks Ian for the help but

is not true. Whatever is not on the stage doesn't go with the swf.

sorry.

Well, things in the library do get exported - if they are set to "export in
first frame" otherwise, if it's not on the stage it's not exported.

would love to find out where you read that - hopefully not a published book.

Let's start by asking what "large" means here. What are we talking about?
