macromedia flash sitedesign:
Hi guys, im not exactly new to Web site design, but until afew weeks ago, i've only been charging in the low $ hundreds, for any sites i've done. Now im freelancing for a company, and they're asking me for invoices before they pay me.. So im looking for ANY help and INFO i can get on HOW TO CHARGE for websites, and approximate how much i could charge. for instance, the site i have just finished was... The client bought a template from the net, and he got me to transfer his old site to the new template. As easy as i thought that to be, it turned out to be quite a pain. and on top of that, compatibility issues between Firefox and Internet Explorer came up. also had to write a PHP script to handle the contact us page. Basically it took me just over 1 week to finish the site. how would any of you guys charge for that? and how much for the whole lot, or for the separate sections?
This is a topic I remember from a while back. I would say there are a lot to factor into pricing. Demographics and your skill level are two that comes to mind. But there are more. Where you are located plays a big role in pricing. Obviously if you are located in an area where there is not a demand for web designers, you won't be able to get much for your work. Your skill level is another major influence. If you are making templates, I'd say visit sites like templatemonster.com or flashtemplates-plus.com and compare some of there work to your own. There is a book that I purchased that I would advise you at least take a look at in your local barnes & nobles book store. Pricing & Ethical guidelines 11th edition. You will learn a lot.
