I am trying to creat a web-site main page, it has 3 buttons on it all of which
are supposed to access a movie in the center of the page, just a simple movie
really....the problem I am haveing is I cant get the "up phase" of the buttons
to work the only one you see is the button in the top layer. You can see over
phase, down phase and the hit phase no problem...just not he top phase, is
there a way for all of my buttons to share the same up phase?

You can check my temp page to see what I am talking about, not being able to
see the up stage in the buttons, keeps my shield from closeing back up.

incase the above doesnt make any sense what so ever.....

In short, I want my 3 buttons on my page to open up the shield, on roll over,
then close the shield on roll out.
I can not seem to get this effect.

I have tried various attempts, and do not know what I am doing wrong. Any one
know of a good link to help me with this problem?

Hi,
Instead of making your buttons into button symbols make them into movie clips.
That way you can make your animation and target various stages of it with
action script (onRollover,onRollout).
By having your button animation stopped on frame 1. So on rollover you send
the movie to frame 2 (which plays the opening animation - lets say finishing at
frame 10 with a stop(); action). Then on rollout you send the movie to frame 11
(which plays the closing animation - and finshes by returning to frame 1)
Let me know if this is what you want and i can help you with it if needs be.
contact me at L=my site]http://www.alanwallace.co.uk/flash.html as i sometimes
dont visit the forum for a few days.
Cheers
