macromedia flash sitedesign: did i butter everyone up?

ok-- 2 things. first off, i'm wondering if someone can tell me the best frame
rate to use for really liquid animation. i'm not using any math-heavy action
script so this is all keyframe stuff.

second... check out www.acura.com... how does one accomplish that blur to
focus fade-in? Is that just nifty photoshop work? I'm trying to create
something simliar... i know how to bring in a gaussian blur and regular image
and fade one into the other (and i know flash 8 has a lovely blur effect--- but
i don't yet want to publish in 8 for this site as the demo will likely not have
it). SO--- i'm trying to do a blur that actually has dimension to it.

many thanks.

Hi! Heres some answers!

1.) I find that 50fps gives a nice compromise between loading time and
fluidity, 90 is prbably the most you want to use as this is what tv is shot at.
It really depends what you are doing. Frame by frame animation at higher fps's
can take so long its not worth it. Where as it really pays to up the framerate
when dealing with tweens.

2.) I'm not sure what you mean when you say dimension. If you mean a focus
effect then you blur part of the image in photoshop and fade in, but you seem
to already know how to do this. I would think the acura sight is done with two
images and one has had contrast and colour played around with to pick out
highlights, Thats what I'd do if I wanted to copy the effect!

Hope this helps

i have to ask some questions....50fps? frame rate has nothing to do with load times afaik. 90fps?
TV? NTSC is 29.97 PAL is 25. 90fps is not used anywhere. frame by frame can take longer because
flash has to load a new asset each frame unless the asset is a symbol - but even with tweens, the
compiled swf is exported as a frame by frame movie anyway. it wont matter. the comment about, it
really pays to up the frame with tweens makes no sense to me - frame rate in flash is a limiter, if
animation gets too heavy such as too many tweens then the desired frame rate may never be reached as
the users' processor gets taxed.

just didnt want your response to be misleading.
