macromedia flash sitedesign:
Hi I am currently building a website that contains a flash header with a
navigation bar. I have currently split framed the site site and when a user
clicks on one of the navigation buttons the appropriate page loads on the
bottom frame. I wish to abandon the use of frames as they are a rather
redundent technology and try to use somthing else to load my webpages into. I
am open to all suggestions really. Is there anyway that you can get the flash
header to jump straight to the end at the page load which would stop the movie
from playing everytime a user traveresed to a page that contained the flash
header.

Could you not just put the whole movie nav bar on the homepage and place the
static header on all the others?
That would be assuming everybody entered at the homepage. Not high tech I
know but no one else seems to give a $hit about helping others in this
group.

Look into using Shared Objects (basically Flash cookies). You could initialize
a SO on the first view, then check against it first thing in your movie. If it
exists (indicating they've already seen your into), then you can skip to the
end of the movie (and you nav), otherwise play the intro (and initialize the
SO).

The movie will be cached, so it shouldn't take too long to reload on
subsequent pages.

Good luck!
