Can someone give me some other ideas / search terms for what I'm trying to
accomplish... I'm afraid I'm not looking in the right corner... I just made
public my little pet project site http://www.ochiphop.com and realized that in
Safari's activity panel, it shows all my coldfusion functions and mp3 paths...
The security of the functions is a whole other monster, but what's most
important is hiding the mp3 paths, as this makes it easy to steal the music on
the site... (not that I mind, but others might)

Can't help specifically with your problem, but thought it worth mentioning
that even if you hide the paths, all a user needs to do is pull the files
from their browser's cache...

Even streaming sound objects are stored in cache? In mp3 format?? Well If
hiding the paths proves impossible, maybe there is there a way to mask them
with a unique name alias linked to a session var or cookie or something
similar? hrmm...
