macromedia flash sitedesign : Really need some help!

Hi,

I?m trying to create a flash file that will be larger than the intended
browser viewing area ? both horizontally and vertically (The actual Flash file
is 2000 pxl wide and 1000 pxl high).

I?m looking the have the flash file site in the centre of the browser window
without scroll bars appearing on the browser. The idea being that users with
larger monitors will be able to see more of the move, but users with smaller
monitors will still have a standard experience and not know anything else is
there to be viewed.

I?ve tried to achieve this by following tutorials on the adobe site that say
to set the HTML publish settings to size > percent, and scale > no scale. This
works fine in Safari (I work on Macs) but looks a complete mess in FireFox.
I?ve also tested it on a PC using IE and get the same error as I do on the Mac
with Firefox.

The actual ?live? file can be viewed here:

The files (and code) used can be downloaded here:
http://www.johnoliver.info/flashIssue/files.zip

A screen grab of the file as it should look can be seen here:
http://www.johnoliver.info//flashIssue/safari_working.jpg

A screen grab of the file not working correctly can be viewed here:
http://www.johnoliver.info//flashIssue/fireFox_wrong.jpg

Basically, the idea is that what ever the browser size, there will be no
scroll bars and the cube will always appear in the centre of the browser.

Many thanks in advance for any help on this one.

Well I did a quick experiment of my own thinking I might have the solution you
are looking for but I can see that even if the swf is in a centerred table that
is set to 2000px wide and 1000px high the browser always starts in the upper
left not centerred.

However there are some little things that cause issues in firefox and opera
that make Flash content not act the way you would like.

just a thought because I had a strange error with Firefox and fullscreening a
swf

in the top of your HTML if you are using Dreamweaver there is a line above the
opeing html tag that looks somethign like:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

remove it and test it again. seems kinda simple but it has fixed more than one
cross-browser issue for me.
