macromedia flash sitedesign: Hi guys,
I'm looking to create an effect that I've seen quite often. It is probably
common and it may well be easy to do, but I've tried everything I could think
of myself and the results are nothing but miserable.
I'm using Flash 8, on Windows XP machine, and I also have Photoshop CS2
running (if needed).
The effect I'm searching for looks like this: there are these banners, coming
up on web sites, where a ray of light, very subtle, runs from an end to
another.
It is as if you were directing a flash light (more subtle though) on an image
and running it smoothly from end to end. And sometimes it sparkles a bit and
shimmers.
It's a kind of shimmer, light, sparkle, moving around. Very pretty :)
Does anybody know how to achieve this effect?
I would love to be able to do it :)

Hi Anaire ....take your rectangle tool ....select white color ...no stroke
&.draw a long rectangle about 400 px by 40 px

we now have to add some perspective ...so zoom in about 800 % ....& on 1 side
of the rectangle.... pull the corner points "in" until about 2 pixels ....very
thin ...so the rectangle is now from very thin on 1 side....till 40 px

convert it into a movie clip symbol ...add a blur filter ...click off the
"lock icon" & adjust the blur X to "14" ...blur Y to "7" ...then then goto
properties Alpha & bring the alpha down till about 50 % .....then convert to a
movie clip symbol again

as for the particles ...that could of been done with a particle actionscript

or the designer ...just created a particle & then used many instances of it &
adjusted the scale of each 1 ...along with the alpha ..throughout the
animation

whoops i said just a white color ...didnt i ! ...sorry a gradient going from white "the source of light" ... to black
hmm & i have done these things like a zillion times ;o)))
