macromedia mobile and devices flashlite:
I'm working on this game and have created a sis file to install the game (.swf)
and it's supporting files in the directory C:\system\Apps\MyGame. Now I can run
the game because I have FExplorer installed on my 3650, what I need to know is
how can a user having installed the game on his/her device open the .swf file
without using a tool like FExplorer. How do I get the game to register in the
Main menu, Applications menu or even the Game menu. I'm sure many of you guys
are having the same problem. Does anyone have a solution to this ?

Hi emanNick,

I'm stuck on this one too.

I wrote to Rob Borcic at macromedia mobile and got this response:

Unfortunately, there's no way to directly associate an icon with a SWF.
Nokia or Symbian has added hooks to allow a JAR file to have an icon,
but those hooks don't work for SWF files. Currently, the only way to
have an icon that launches a SWF is to create a very small Symbian C++
application that will then launch the SWF.

I really need to sort this asap and would apprciate any help on how to create
a symbian app file which
launches a swf.
How do I create a symbian app file? Do I need C++ installed or is it
something I can compile using a command line exe (acomp?) from a text file?
This C programming is a bit beyond me at the moment so a tutorial or any help
would be great.

I can find nothing on www.newlc.com!

Hopeful,

Graham Blake

It's not easy to explain the steps involved in creating a symbian App. It is a
bit complicated and yes you need to know C++ and have it installed. I use
Microsofts Visual C++ myself. The best I can do is point you inthe right
direction. The best place to find documentation on Symbian development using
C++ is at http://www.newlc.com . It's where I learnt everything I know about
Symbian till date. I can create an App alright, but the problem is starting the
Flashlite Player and loading the .swf file. Even I can't figure out how to do
that.

Hi anyone, why is it that FExplorer and flash.sis cannot read my inbox and the
file where my swf file was located.. I install the flash.sis on my device and
then when i try to play my swf file in my device it said that it's an unknown
format.. so i browse the forum and i found out that i need to install the
FExplorer.. so I intall it and then again i failed to even open the folder
where my swf file was located... the swf file that i created works on the
device of my friend.. but i wonder why i didn't worked for my device... my
device is n3650. it has a flash.sis and Fexplorer.sis .. but i can not open the
file folder.. can you please tell me the correct installation of flash.sis
and fexplorer.sis.. and correct traportation of swf file from my pc to my
handset... hoping for a quick response....

Ciao did you request a Flash Lite player for your device ? Flash Lite Player
work only on the device that is been requested for using the IMEI number. So
you cannot install the player on other phones. Ciao Alessandro www.biskero.com

sorry for the late reply.. i request and i macromedia sends me the flash.sis
for my device.. by the way i hope you're still there.. here is the complete
scenario about my problem.... i install it and the device prompt me that
"installation security warning...." (it's stated on my post earlier.. ) and
then i install it anyway..
then i upload my swf file on my handset via blue tooth on another memory of my
handset.. do i need to put it on the main memory.:? but when i try to open it..
the handset told me the it's unknow format.. so i look for an answer in this
forum and i found out that i need to install fexplorer.. so i install it .. but
still its not working.. do i need to consider the version of my 3650.. if i
need to consider it how am i going to update it.. thank for your quick post

Ciao it seams that your player is not working properly. It doe not matter
where you store the swf into the phone, if the Flash Lite player is there, the
phone will recognize the swf format. That's why I am saying that you might
have an issue with your FL player. Check if you send the correct IMEI and that
the palyer you received from MM has the correct IMEI in the file name.
iFexplore it's just like explore for windows, it enables you to navigate your
phone folders and move files eround, it has nothing to do with Flash. For
packging refer to the post of Andrea, but I suggest you to first figure out
why you cannot play swf files. Ciao Alessandro www.biskero.com
