I have installed the Flash Player 8.0 yesterday for my computer. My computer is using Win98SE and I am using Internet Explorer to view the internet. After the Flash Player 8.0 is installed, the Internet Explorer will have error and fail to work properly and then the Internet Explorer terminates itself. I have tried to uninstall the 8.0, but, unfortunately, I have selected my internet setting so at to "always trust all contents from Macromedia" and the 8.0 will again reinstall automatically everytime I enter a website that requires Flash Player. Can anyone tell me how can I withdraw that "always trust all contents from Macromedia" setting from my computer? Thanks!
As far as trusted sites in Internet Explorer, you can remove using the following steps... Menu 'Tools', Internet Options, 'Security' tab, Select the green icon 'Trusted Sites' (make sure the words 'trusted sites' are highlighted), then click the sites button, then select the site in the list that you want to remove and click the 'remove' button. Note: This trusted site list removal will not resolve the IE6.0 Win98SE and FlashPlayer 8.0 compatibility problem. I am also having compatibility issues with IE6.0 Win98SE and FlashPlayer 8.0, and I don't know how to resolve it. Please advise if you have a resolution.
I installed Flash 7. In the process, the obsolete ActiveX control for swflash.inf was removed. I now am running Flash Player 8 with no problems. The real culprit is Microsoft's critical update Q896688 and their new version of Mshtml.dll - 6.00.2800.1522. Restoring the old Mshtml.dll - 6.00.2800.1106 solves ALL problems, including Windows Update.
