There were some third party tools for that. FLVPlayer comes to mind.
RIVA might have made something too. Google it!

Hey folks,

I have a bunch of flv files that I'd like to be able to view, but I don't want
to spend $600 to buy the whole Flash Developers Package. Is it possible to view
these using a projector of some type? Is there any way to convert the flv's
into more standard media files?

Please keep it simple as I am not a techie.
