macromedia players flash : Flash8 MSI installation under System account

Hi,

I am trying to deploy Flash Player 8 using "install_flash_player_active_x.msi"
I launch it the usual way using "msiexec" and the switch "/i /qn".

It works as long as I start the program from a user account.

The trouble is that my tools run under the "System" account.
(This is required in order to gain priviledges on the computer.)

When I launch the installation via "System" I am able to find a "Debug"
message in the log.
It complains about not being able to get some "Shell folder" setting for the
current user (reading the registry).
(System account have no profile and therefore no such settings.)

I hardly understand why it needs to know about the user default folders !
But this prevent me effectively to deploy FlashPlayer.

Do exists a workaround this problem ? Perhaps a parameter to prevent user
folder detection or to set the folders ?
Or even better : why there is no more such a thing as FlashPlayer7AX.exe ?

Thanks for any input,

--Richard.

Hi,

Flash Player 8 is the most secure version of the software, and the
licensing program makes the current version for each platform
available. If you need Flash Player 7 for business or technical
reasons, you can make a request through the Contact a Customer Rep form
found at www.macromedia.com/licensing.

If you have steps to reproduce any issues with the MSI installers, or
have feature requests, please report them to the bug form at:

http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=11&6213=5

Note to others: To license the Flash Player installers for intranet
deployment, please complete the online license here:
www.macromedia.com/licensing.
