I can't install flash player. some of the websites I go on want me to install
the latest verison, and I can't. when I click the install button, it takes me
to a new page, which explains that I should have had a box pop up. and it
doesn't install. it does this both on AOL and IE!

oh thank god im not alone. guys, ive tried it ALL!!! I MEAN EVERYTHING. I did
a clean install of win 98 se today, ran all windows updates and the flash
player installer does one of two things. sits there all day long on the
webpage and does nothing or loads the webpage but puts an x in the box where it
usually shows the successful install animation. MANY websites have confirmed
that my active x is enabled and ive even tried setting all permissions in my ie
option to enable or prompt to no avail. no install popup... nothing. even the
roundabout way of installing it by just going to a website that requires flash
player 8 does nothing but make the page hang. I tried downloading an older
version off the macromedia site here and for some reason it only dl's at
something rediculous like 337 bytes per second. I have a cable connection and
have installed flash player 8 on this computer twice without problems. i'm not
trying to point any fingers or say anything bad, but ive noticed this problem
with slow load times from this site progressively getting worse since it was
taken over by adobe...

I really wish someone would fix this. If nothing else in this site BUT the
installer worked properly id be happy...

Me too...and the strangest thing is that this happens for 1 XP user account
while not others. I've checked the pop-up and anti-spy/security settings and
they are identical. Any clue what might be happening??
