The sound all of a sudden stoped playing in any flash aplication such as
myspace music player, pure volume music player, as well as any flash video i
have tried to watch. What can I do to correct this problem??

Thanks

Was this a permanent fix?

Does anyone know why and when this problem occurs? I have content that plays
sound up to a point and then stops, never to return again. Wondering is an
event triggers this issue? What a problem...

Any insight would be great.

Yes, the GarageBand fix has worked over time (I wouldn't dare say permanent,
beacuse without knowing what caused this in the first place, who knows if it
might happen again at some point)

FYI, here is the detail of the message that Macromedia support sent me
regarding this issue:

The issue with Flash files not having sounds maybe resolved by the steps below:

For Windows platform:

Suggestion 1:

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio

- Make sure that a device is selected.

Suggestion 2:

Expanding and restoring the original Microsoft ACM Audio Filter files (which
were probably overwritten by some installation) :

Start/run - type: expand G:\i386\msacm32.dr_ c:\windows\system32\msacm32.drv

start/run - type: expand G:\i386\msacm32.dl_ c:\windows\system32\msacm32.dll

G is the cd drive with your operating system
C is the drive you have windows installed on

For Macintosh platform:

Suggestion 1:

If you go to the Applications folder, and then the Utilities folder, you'll
find the Audio MIDI application. Open it up, and then change the setting in the
lower right -- which often gets set above 48000 kHz. Reduce the setting to
48000 or less, and you should again have audio in your web apps / with your
plugins.

Suggestion 2:

- Run Garage Band application
- turn off and on your computer

Thanks. It's unfortunate that noone knows what actually triggers this problem
in the first place, except that it is flash related. This is quite frustrating
for a developer of elearning applications, where flash is the clear choice.

Does anyone have an idea of how widespread this is? I have heard of 3 cases
personally from users of our courses in the last week, and more than a few
others like yourselves dating back to Version 7. I would feel better if I
could duplicate and fix this problem myself, but not having a screwed up
machine makes that kinda hard.

In the next couple of days I hope to get one of our users' IT personel to run
the repair on the affected computer, so hopefully this will fix the problem.

Maybe Adobe can step up to this and stop it all together...or tell us why.

my system preferences panel when i was on the web and checking video on
YouTube. All the rest of the time, the sound come from my speakers.

I will ckeck the effect on Garage Band and other apps.

Thanks again and please excuse my poor english writing (i'm french speeking).
