macromedia players flash : Do I Need A Stand-Alone Flash Player?

Hi! I have several videos that I want to view on my desktop computer. They
are in Flash format (.swf). When I go to view them on my desktop computer, I'm
prompted to select which program I want to use to view them. My only option
onboard my computer is Internet Explorer. I would have thought that was
normal, but I tried the same thing on my laptop and when it prompted me for the
program, one of the selections was Macromedia Flash Player. When I view the
videos on the laptop, the Flash Player comes up and the videos play fine, but
on my desktop using the Internet Explorer, the video is grainy and unclear.

So obviously I don't have Macromedia Flash Player installed on my desktop as a
stand-alone player. How and where do I get it so I can view my videos properly
on my desktop computer?

Thanks.:confused;

See the other thread on exactly this topic.

The standalone player is not available separately, it comes with Flash.

Or you can get any projector exe and associate it with SWF files and it will
become a standalone layer.
