Can I tell you I have a love / hate relationship with the Flash Player?

I am trying to open a site that uses Flash. I have previously installed Flash
Player, don't know what version. When opening the link on the particular site
it tells me that I need to upgrade to latest version.

Come to the Macromedia site and allow it to install. I get the view that
shows the Flash player install is complete and I change the address back to the
original site. Low and behold I get the same message directing me back...

I followed the KB articles to do the manual download and install which didn't
work and have also eliminated the reg key as suggested.

I have fought with this program for some time in the past and would really
love it to be fixed, once and for all....

Now what???

I wish that this happened on only one site.

It happens regularly to this computer on many sites. I know that it is
something specific to this laptop, but I can't find anything in any of the
support documents that has helped solve it...

I am willing to try just about anything to resolve this problem as I like the
Flash Content on many sites, just hate the fact that it doesn't work...

This might not be your fault (probably isn't actually). If it's a
particular site that's doing this then the problem lies in that sites
flash player detection. In this case contact that site and inform them
of your problem so they can hopefull address it.

If -all- sites do it, then that's another story.

What operating system and internet browser are we talking about? I'm
guessing some flavor of Windows and Internet Explorer?

I am using the following:

Windows XP SP1 - current corporate policy prevents me from updating to SP2
IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.040919-1003

System has the following:
1GB of RAM
11GB of free HD space

What other information could I provide to you?

Does it do the same thing in IE (with the Flash Player activeX control),
AND in FireFox (or Netscape) with the Flash Player plugin?
