macromedia players flash : Flash not working with Mozilla Firefox 1.0.3

Techno-ignorant here, using Windows XP SP2, and I recently upgraded my browser
from Mozilla Firefox 1.0.2, which displayed Flash perfectly, to FF 1.0.3, which
doesn't seem to render Flash at all, at least not with my Norton Personal
Firewall 2005 set to the highest security settings.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash using both FF and IE 6.0, to
no avail. Only way I can even somewhat play online games that use Flash is to
take NPF down from High security to Medium security (an option I don't like),
and even so, Flash seems to freeze at very inopportune times, either not
allowing me to progress to the next stage, or not allowing me to control my
movements within the game.

Folks on FF forum who also upgraded to 1.0.3 don't seem to be having the
trouble with Flash that I am, and recommended I come here. What'd I do wrong,
and how do I get Flash up and running again? My thanks in advance for any
explicit, step-by-step, easy-to-understand solutions!

We haven't been able to replicate this problem with FireFox 1.0.3 in
house. Seems like perhaps Norton's firewall is blocking all plugins?
You should give Norton a call...

I'm having issues with Flash causing my firefox browser (1.0.3 on Mac OS X
10.3.9) to freeze as well. It seems to only happen when I have multiple tabs
open at the same time on a page with lots of flash (such as
http://www.dgc.ca/). I've used 'AdBlock' to block some of the more heavier
flash sites for now, but it'd be good if it could be addressed.

it doesn't freeze all at once either. It'll go real slow, come back once or
twice and then go off to never never land and require a 'Force Quit'.

I do not have Norton installed like the previous poster.

Thanks,
