macromedia players flash : Flash Player malfunction within site

I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and I'm on Mac 10.3. At first I thought Flash
Player wasn't successfully installed, because I would get nothing but the
little F icon when inserting a Flash button or Flash text (and looking at it in
browser didn't change anything). Then I realized that Flash Player works just
fine in Dreamweaver - unless I use it within my current site, or a brand new
site. I open up previous sites, or tutorial sites, and it works perfectly. I
tried putting a document that had Flash working into a new site, and then it no
longer worked - little F icon only. The .swf files were there but they didn't
display buttons or flash text.

Is the MIME type set correctly?

Bentley et al,

Re: MIME type
Could you explain this in plain English, or tell me what to look for as far as settings or preferences in Dreamweaver, or IE, or my Mac?

I went to the link provided by Bentley, about the MIME types, and found in
Netscape that the MIME type is application/x-shockwave-flash. The problem is, I
was only able to do this, as I said in my original note, by way of a file that
had already been created in an old site. When I try to make a flash button in a
new site, it doesn't even create a .swf file. I tried moving the documents
that worked correctly from the old site over to a new site (I'm talking about
Dreamweaver MX 2004). That caused Flash buttons that worked previously, to no
longer work.
I was doing a Flash Text tutorial lesson for Dreamweaver MX 2004. The site had
already been created on the CD. That worked fine.

Hello, it's myself again, the question asker. I got the answer if anyone cares.
The reason Flash Player wasn't working is because my site folder had incorrect
characters in it (spaces) and the path for reading the flash button could not
be found.
