macromedia players flash : INF install failure with Macromedia Flash Player

Hello !
My config : DELL OptiPlex 170L, Windows 2000 SP4, IE 6.0 SP1, AV : TrendMicro
PC Cillin 11 with firewall disabled, user : administrator with administrator's
rights.
My problem : error at the end of Flash Player install process : "INF install
failure. Reason : unknown"
I have tried all I could do : activeX are all enabled, registry key blocking
Flash not present, no Norton Internet Security or equivalent present, no
ad/popup blocker... I have tried to clear everything concerning Macromedia on
my PC (with uninstall modules provided by Macromedia then manually deleting
files in WINNT\SYSTEM32\MACROMED\ directory and in registry), I have read and
tried all I could in Macromedia TechNotes 19166, 12727 and 16178 without any
success...
All I see when I try to download and install Flash Player is 99 files
downloaded (in my IE status bar) then nothing happens (no flash animation
displayed). I tried to download the full version and received the error message.
Anyone have a suggestion ?
By the way I also tried to download and install Shockwave player without any
success : I receive an error saying something like "Access for modification
denied. Try again with administrator's rights" while I am logged in as
administrator ! (see my other post in Shockwave category)
Is there a link between these 2 problems ?
Can someone help me ?...

Here is the answer to this problem. The permissions under the following
registry need to be reset:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

1. Run regedt32
2. Navigate to the key
3. Click on Security and then Permissions and make sure the following accounts
have the correct permissions:

Administrators | Full Control | This key and subkeys
Power Users | Full Control | This key and subkeys
System | Full Control | This key and subkeys
Users | Read | This key and subkeys

I think it's a Dell screw up, I found the answer on a Dell forum

THIS was the answer to my Macromedia problems (Flash and Shockwave)! What does DELL on his Windows pre-load ??? I could never find that solution by myself...
