macromedia players flash : Clearing IE cache removes Flash

Whenever I clear the IE cache (Delete Temporary Internet Files) it also removes
Flash from the browser. The next time I visit a site with Flash, it has to be
reinstalled. Has anyone else noticed this problem? How can it be fixed? I'm
running IE 6.0 on XP Pro with all the latest security updates. I tried removing
IE and reinstalling it. I tried physically deleting all the cache folders.
Neither option worked.

I have seen this happen a few times, most of the times it is related to either
a Windows Auto-Update (KB 832894) or a particular installer not working fully.
WIth that I would try to remove the update listed above or try to use the MSI
installer linked below:

Thanks, the msi installer fixed the problem. Maybe this version can be
integrated into the Flash Player download page.

Hi, I have seen it ,
simple answer dont use Internet explorer , use firefox more secure,
userfriendly and less problems.
If you have to use IE download flash player to a folder on your HD,and the
install this way if it gets deleted all you have to do is double click *.exe.
I know of atlest 6 cases where all ie Browser plugins will get deteled .
Especially if you click on delete objects.

Hope this helps

I've seen many more post with problems with FireFox (eg problem with doctype
flag etc) than with IE. When developing a business web site, our web site
designers have come across so many problems and bugs due to FireFox.

IE is more stable and better established. Also, as IE is by far the more
common browser, it is the most sensible one to do your testing in etc. Most
of your sites visitors will be using this (if you are developing a web
site).

Generally, an ActiveX control will not be deleted by clearing the cache, or
any other browser operation other than a deliberate unintall. It becomes
installed as part of the operating system (and is then available to browsers
and other applications).

FireFox may well become a better choice in the future, but for now its not.
