what is the installed version of the flash player? have you tried
uninstalling it and reinstalling it?

not sure then... aside from this, I've noticed a few problems with flash
player 8 (not crashing, just not doing what it's supposed to such as
making getURL:javascript calls). I've downgraded back to 7,0,19,0 now
until MM make another minor release of FP 8 that works a bit better. I
guess I'd have to recommend you do the same.

I've been reading a little and discovered that a lot of people who are
developing with flash video are receiving this error.
I'm using Flash 7 and getting it, but it's with a 3d rendered animation (jpeg
sequence imported to the timeline). Originally, I wasn't paying attention to
filesize and dropped all of the images on the timeline, putting my fla file at
32MB. I deleted all of them and put in a lower-resolution and shorter version
of the animation sequence. When I saved, the fla was still taking up 32MB.
That's when I started getting the error... after adding some text to the
animation.
I made a new flash movie and copied the frames to the new fla.. the file size
went down to 2MB. But the error still shows up... and it's not always when I'm
rendering the movie.

With this project, I'm lucky to have it mostly script-based and I'm only
partially into it when this started to copy-pasting actionscript and just
reimporting a lot of the graphics isn't going to cost too many more hours. If
this were a larger project, I'd be pulling my hair out.

Difficulties with Flash Player 8.

Flash has included new securities functions, which prevents anyone from
accessing your machine (which are necessary). The only problem is that if want
to view certain effects such as pop windows in flash player 8 you will not be
able to see at work on your local machine (tested on your personal computer),
you will only be able to see the effects once your work is on a server .
I have used pop windows in two final year projects which open several screens
these include:

? A video screen which explains about the skeleton
? A matching game
? A word search game

I emailed Macromedia technical support twice about this problem about 6 weeks
ago but the only thing I received was a confirmation that they received my
email.
I then phoned macromedia and they said,? Macromedia recognizes the problem and
suggests that I

1. I need to get in contact with macromedia forums to see if there is a
solution.
2. Have a look at the macromedia notes on the subject(which I did)
3. Use a server to view your work( which I have no need of at the moment)

I then asked the question would it work in IIS, the answers was ?I not quiet
sure?

Five alternatives:

1. Use the flash payer 7
2. Use a server to view to your creations
3. See if It works in IIS (Internet Information Server, which comes with win
2000 professional and win xp professional)
4. Get In contact with forums and see what?s up
5. Have a good look at the technical notes again (boring!!!!!)

I've heard about this, yes. It's looking like Flash Player 8 bears some
similarity to XP Service Pack 2 in that respect.
Fixes security issues, breaks some general functionality.
I guess it's a necessary evil, though.

It also appears that all of our problems here relate back to different issues.
I discovered that my memory error was actually due to the use of XML to load
"doodads" on my animation at runtime. I've been able to fix it, but geez it was
a pain to figure out.:confused;:evil;
