Is there a way to set flash player 8 security in one area that will override all other user profile settings? Currently we change the settings under "admin", and then whenever any "users" log in they too are prompted with security messages. The problem here is that we are in a k-12 educational setting and we cannot have students attempt to set their own security as this will create an abundance of support. The applications that are causing this issue is a piece of science software that is running off of a CD. Thanks in advance! sean
I have the same problem. I am going to try this on Friday. It looks like, for a local account, the Flash Player settings are saved in a file called settings.sol that is stored in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys . That means for your domain users this would be in their profile on the server (I am using roaming profiles, if you are using mandatory profiles it would be similar) at ProfileLocation\%Username%\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys. I am going to set my local Flash Player settings up on my admin machine the way I think they should work and then copy the necessary files and folders to the profiles of the students. It might require so tweaking with the file permissions. I will post more when I have tried it. Kim Ferraro Network Technician Crown Point Community Schools
It works. FOSS sent me two files they had constructed according to the white paper and I had to lay them in System32\Macromed\Flash folder on every machine. Contact me if you need more information or you want me to forward the files and directions to you. kferraro@cps.k12.in.us
