I got a new hard drive, installed a fresh copy of Windows XP, and set the old drive as secondary. I have deleted absolutely every other file from the old Windows folder except Flash8b.ocx I even tried booting up off the XP CD with the recovery console and it wouldn't even let me CD into the old Windows directory. I guess I'll just mark the old folder hidden but what the hell, why is this so hard to get rid of? Any ideas? I've browsed and searched on here but everybody else is grasping at straws as well.
I figured it out. Open Windows Explorer\ Browse to where Flash folder in C:\Windows\system32\Macromedia Hold Drag it to the folder of whatever user you're logged in as, like C:\Document and Settings\Your Name Make sure you're MOVING it, not just copying it. Hold shift down while dragging if you're moving from another drive like I was. Once it's in your folder, you can delete it. Hell yeah! THIS WAS WAY TOO HARD BY THE WAY!
