Well .. first you need to have a standalone flash player. If you are like
most people who just install the flash player control, then that is all you
have .. a control that runs in your browser. You don't have a program that
can run and player SWF files.

The standalone flash player comes bundled with Flash (the expensive
authoring tool) .. so if you have Flash, you have the player. I think you
can get a beta version of FlashPlayer 9 standalone player from the adobe
labs download area as well .. but generally Adobe/macromedia do not
distribute stand-alone flash players (an redistributing it is against
licensing rules).
