macromedia players flash : Flash problems with Youtube HELP!

I am trying to see an ad on youtube. However, only the audio portion is
broadcast through the PC - no visual.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash. The flash on my PC passed the test
at the adobe site. No one at my office has a clue as to why this is happening.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am having same problems, on youtube video pages I get sound but no video and
rest of youtube page is empty too

Works fine in Firefox, but symptoms in IE6. If I press ctrl-refresh a few
times, the page comes good.

Other flash sites work finr in IE6, so I suspect this may be a Youtube problem?

I did an install, and then an uninstall/ reinstall to be sure. Still same
problems.

I am more convinced its a youtube problem though. When I refresh I get
different HTML code (via view code) , and sometimes obviously incomplete HTML.

The HTML code for Firefox is different, so I guess thats why no problems on
firefox.

They show the server number in the HTML. My best guess is Youtube have fixed a
problem for IE users and are still rolling it out to all servers. Refresh
usually gets the pages from a different server, and hopefully a working one. Or
else they are busily rolling out a bug to all servers :)

I have sent an email off to youtube, will post if I get a reply

Thanks .. at least that confirms that you do have the correct version
properly installed .. it always good to eliminate the easy answers first.
That suggests the problem lies elsewhere (maybe as far back up the chain as
youtube).

Good luck.

One thing could be that you still have old player installed (installing new
one did not fully work). So you do have working Flash, but just not the
latest version.

What version does your flash player control report itself to be? (eg when
you go to
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html )

Sorry .. meant the link here:

http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/

That will tell you the version, but not prompt to update.

Don't know . .because I actually did an uninstall and reinstall less than an
hour ago (wanted to ensure I had latest 9r28 version) .. it worked like a
charm. So I don't think there is any problem with the download page. You
did, of course, ensure you had no windows/msn messengers or web pages or
flash open etc (anything that might be using the flash player
control/activex) ??

I'm having the exact same problem. I went on the Adobe support page and
uninstalled the existing player using the uninstall utility. Went back to
download the player and clicked on the download link but nothing happens?? The
download page is just sitting there with the box with little icon showing no
picture. The download is supposed to only take a couple of minutes on a 56K
modem line and I'm on a 5Meg cable and its been over 20 minutes! I've refreshed
the page and still nothing. What's wrong with the download?

After about an hour, I finally got the security warning bar asking if I wanted
to proceed with the download. This was about 5 minutes ago. So now I will wait
to see how long the actual download will take. This is so bizarre!

It is a youtube problem. They got back to me amazingly quick and even then
apologized (all web site owners please take note - youtube get a gold star!) I
attach their response:

-----> email from youtube:

Hi there,
Sorry for the late reply! Our engineers are working on the issue. This issue
is affecting some Internet Explorer 6 users. After working with many users we
have found the only work around at this time is for users to continue to
refresh [CTRL+F5] or temporarily use another browser like Firefox or update to
Internet Explorer 7:

Internet Explorer 7:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx

Firefox 2:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Again we are working on resolving the issue. Please let us know if you have
more concerns or questions. Thank you for your e-mail!

Regards,
Albert
